An emergency is a situation which poses an immediate risk to health, life, property or environment. Most emergencies require urgent intervention to prevent a worsening of the situation, although in some situations, mitigation may not be possible and agencies may only be able to offer palliative care for the aftermath.

Whilst some emergencies are self evident (such as a natural disaster which threatens many lives), many smaller incidents require the subjective opinion of an observer (or affected party) in order to decide whether it qualifies as an emergency.

The precise definition of an emergency, the agencies involved and the procedures used, vary by jurisdiction, and this is usually set by the government, whose agencies (emergency services) are responsible for emergency planning and management.

Emergency Procedure in a hydraulic faliure situ in Boeing 737?
Q. Hi guys i just cant find any thin on the emergency procedures in case of a hydraulic faliure of a B737!! please help

A. Should you lose your A and B hydraulic systems in the 737, you ll be down to the standby system. LE flaps and slats will be available, Thrust reversers and rudder will still be powered. The -300 will have the autoslat function available as well. You ll be in manual reversion for the ailerons. You ll lose a whole bunch of stuff. You ll be using the alternate gear and flap extension procedures. Use flaps 15 for landing. Fly a normal approach profile for final. Because the airplane will be really sluggish in the roll mode, you d better make your pattern a bit wide. Steep banks in manual reversion are a bad idea. Once you re on the ground, you ll need a tow to the gate, as the nosewheel steering is hydraulic powered. It s been 5 years… [cont.]

What problems can occur by forgetting to release the emergency break?
Q. My parents have always placed their car in park and had the emergency break as on for extra protection. As a result, I've learned from them, but forget to take it off. Then after driving for a while I'd realize it was on and would have to turn it off. From now on, I'm going to leave it that way, but I want to know if I could have done and damage to the car for driving with the emergency break on. Any serious problems?

A. It can get serious depending on how long you drive with them on. First off, if your emergency brake is in good condition and properly adjusted you will not be able to drive with them applied. However, If they have had some use and are slightly worn then you will be able to drive with them applied. Here is what happens. With the parking brake applied you are going to have a constant friction and drag on your rear wheels rotors or drums. This will burn the e-brake pads right off if the brake is set tight and you fail to realize it is set. Once the you start moving the brakes will start building up heat in the system andactuall causing drag on all four wheels due to the brake fluid getting hotter by the second, So now not only are your rear… [cont.]

How many times do I have to take the emergency contraception pills?
Q. I had an unprotected sex with my boyfriend yesterday. I took the emergency contraception pills immediately. They came in a pack of 2 tablets. But i am not sure whether i need to buy another pack another today.
Asked by annajo610 - Tue Sep 11 06:22:44 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Plan B should come with a set of instructions. I've never had to take it, but I do believe that it's okay to take both pills either together or 12 hours apart. It would be wise to contact the pharmacy or clinic that distributed you your pills to clear up any questions that you may have. Good luck! Hoping you're not pregnant :)!
